It also occurs to me (as a result of watching the Attwell video) that one of the great purposes of the institution is to "authenticate" learning. So though we can acknowledge that learning takes place in all kinds of contexts, and that sharing is a valuable tool, we might do well to remember that as we design more student generated learning experiences, and create more open types of learning, we also need to build in that authentication.

So how would we use a PLE within ID&D to share learning? We now have a wiki, and we have teams, (Red, Blue, Green), and I've noticed that we post our meeting notes and field trip logs to our team spaces, and we can all go in and see each others' team spaces, but I'm also thinking we have duplication of effort going on as well.
So a question for me is, how do we share learning without wasting others' time (the tour guides at DC who conducted tours 3 times vs. once), and how do we make that learning personal and meaningful if others don't get to experience EVERYTHING for themselves (it's one thing to go on the field trip and really experience the learning about DC and another to simply read about it, which is soon forgotten)?
And how much time do we really have for ruminating--when do we actually apply what we've learned so that we're creating something or doing something useful? These are just some of the thoughts I have as I encounter social/sharing tools and figure out their usefulness in a productive environment.
